Description & Technique
Page 75 from Cormac McCarthy's apocalyptic novel The Road.
I have cut the silhouette of a dead forest from one of my own photos. I have left words such as "I'm really scared" and "dead limbs" intact - together with the page number.
I have used words from the page to create the line "Carrying the fire" which repeats throughout the novel as father and son make their way on foot to the coast.
The papercut is hand stitched to the black background. This technique allows the artwork to be free from the background, providing life, depth and shadow.
